APA VS MLA

Similarities:

1. Both formats are double spaced throughout
2. Author is referred to by last name
3. Title is centered
4. Citations are listed in alphabetical order
5. "References" title is centered on a separate page 

Differences:

1. MLA has name and number at the top of each page while APA only has page number
2. MLA citations are just the author's name, APA cites the author, page and publication date
3. APA has a cover page while MLA does not
4. APA pages are titled, MLA does not do the same
5. APA provides headings for various sections of the essay, while MLA is more so continuous 

First Writing Assignment Analyzation

The purpose of our first writing assignment is to analyze text in a given field of interest in order to gain a greater understanding for it and enhance our ability to pull information from various sources. We are expected to write a minimum of 1250 words or 5 pages of content in order to receive full points on the assignment, and must be sure to analyze three academic sources along with three nonacademic sources. Some questions I have about this assignment are; where do we find our sources? What is the maximum amount of pages allowed? Will this assignment be graded as harshly as future projects?

What is Rhetoric?

Rhetoric is the technique of using language effectively and persuasively with the careful use of different writing principles. An example of this wouldn't be ensuring that an informational piece of work doesn't cross into a forcefully persuasive category.

Qualities of Good Writing

I recently wrote an eight page research paper covering the consequential effects of Cancel Culture. Cancel culture is defined as a form of boycott in which someone has shared a questionable opinion or behavior on social media, which is then recognized by a large number of people, leading to massive declines in their career. Through an examination of extreme Cancel Culture instances such as Carson King's partnership with Busch Lite, I was able to concisely determine why this phenomenon has become such a large issue in today's world. This paper taught me a great deal about non argumentative writing, and heavily impacted the way I use media. With the realization that everything posted on the internet is eternally accessible, it is vital to limit the amount of content we put out to the rest of the world.
